I am a registered psychotherapist with 40 years of experience providing counselling to adults, couples, and families.
My specialized expertise is in anxiety, depression, ADHD and ASD, OCD, giftedness, burnout, acute and chronic medical conditions, and vicarious trauma for professionals and care-givers. I teach mindfulness as a way of finding peace in the present moment. Mindfulness strategies develop awareness of thoughts, feelings and automatic stress responses, so that we can learn to pause, stay calm, and choose how we respond in challenging interactions.
At this stage of my career, I am focused on working with adults, couples and families. In my individual work with adults, the conversation allows for deeper reflection. I encourage an attitude of self-compassion while exploring concerns in identity, relationship, work or life direction, self care and personal growth. For couples, learning about their reactivity patterns and understanding differentiation can create a strong foundation for developing effective communication skills to tackle their differences.
I run my own practice and am also an Associate and Affiliate of the Redpath Centre of Toronto, a specialized clinic which focuses on neurodevelopmental differences. I am also work as an Associate with Karen T Kemp Psychology Corporation.
I am the mom of three remarkable adult children and grandma to one. My practice has recently expanded to include older adults who are recreating the notion of wisdom years and are actively engaged with their work, family, friends and communities.
